  1. Wear Headphones or Earbuds

  2. Control Your Recording Environment

  3. Use the Best Microphone You Have

Wear Headphones or Earbuds

Headphones eliminate echo/feedback during the recording, plus they send notification “bings” into your ears rather than into the room where they can be picked up by the mic. Avoid wireless/bluetooth if possible.

Control Your Recording Environment

Try to be somewhere quiet, away from outside noise like traffic, construction etc..., and away from inside noise like fans, dishwashers, pets etc... To avoid introducing other distracting sounds, turn your phone and other devices to silent, and avoid creating noises like typing or setting down a glass during recording.

Use the Best Microphone You Have

If you have an external microphone or headset, great! But if not, try to sit close enough to the microphone source (your computer or other device). Whatever device you’re using, be sure to take it off speaker - as this can cause an echo of the conversation.
