Excerpt from: Podcasting at Work: 25 Questions to Ask Before Starting

The success of your podcast depends on your potential audience being able to decide very quickly if this show is for them and why they should listen.

ELEVATOR

Imagine your ideal listener just stepped into the elevator with you - how would you explain your show concept and entice them to listen in the seconds before you part ways?

Crafting a very short elevator pitch early on in the process can be immensely beneficial in getting everyone involved on the same page too. A great elevator pitch should briefly touch on what the show is, who it’s for, and why they should listen.

And guess what? The elements that make up a great elevator pitch are the same elements that make up a great podcast intro: brevity and clarity. Check out our guide: Scripting Your Podcast Intro, Outro, and Teaser to get started writing those elements.

Putting together these short scripts is more challenging than you might expect - but the process will help you distill and focus your thoughts around your goals for your podcast and your ideal audience.
